Method

A five-stage sequence we use for Procurement Savings Assessments and related category work. Each stage ends with a tangible artifact your team can keep.

Printed category charts arranged on a wooden table beside notebooks in a calm office
  1. Discovery and scope

Confirm categories, plants, and the budget window you care about. Agree which spend files to export and who owns each category on your side.

  2. Spend intake and cleaning

Normalize supplier names, units, and cost centers. Separate project spikes from recurring demand so baselines stay honest.

  3. Visualization workshops

Walk category owners through draft charts. Capture annotations that never appear in the ERP—quality disputes, preferred brands, delivery constraints.

  4. Opportunity ranking

Score savings ideas by estimated impact and switching difficulty. Challenge soft estimates before they enter a leadership deck.

  5. Briefing and handoff

Deliver the savings map, supporting charts, and a written summary. Optional: join one internal briefing to answer questions from finance.
